- For one topic, prepare an affirmative and a negative argument. In other words, prepare to agree with the resolution and prepare to disagree with the resolution.
- This is a requirement. When you pick your topics, make sure you keep this in mind. For this assignment, and in life, you need the ability to see things from multiple perspectives.
- We see things in black and white. We wish it were that simple. We almost refuse to acknowledge anything but right and wrong in our daily lives. The entire purpose of this debate unit is to explore the grey area. Because that is where we live: in the grey area.
- For your second topic, you may choose which side you prepare to argue, and you only need to prepare the argument (agree or disagree) which reflects your actual opinion.
